Many types of equipment are used to get the most scientific evidence possible. Here you will find some of the most popular. Please note that we do not recommend any particular brands. The brand of equipment that you use is up to you. The photos presented here only show the type of equipment we choose to use..

EMF Detectors  We use these items as a guideline of where to look, not as actual evidence. We do a baseline reading before the investigation starts to give us an idea of the norms of the area. *Critics of paranormal investigation contend that EMF meters are grossly misused for this purpose. The study of electromagnetism is a very complicated discipline and no one has ever shown that an EMF meter actually detects ghosts.*

Also known as a Gauss Meter: a magnetometer for measuring the intensity of a magnetic field, calibrated in gauss.

When the electromagnetic field is disrupted the meters will spike and signal that there has been a change. This will indicate to the ghost hunter to pay attention to this area for other types of paranormal activity that might be displayed.

Analog

also known as a Gauss Meter: a magnetometer for measuring the intensity of a magnetic field, calibrated in gauss.

Digital

When the electromagnetic field is disrupted the meters will spike and signal that there has been a change. This will indicate to the ghost hunter to pay attention to this area for other types of ghostly activity that might be displayed.

K2 or KII

The K2 EMF meter is a powerful, fast sampling Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Meter that covers frequencies from 30-20,000 Hz. This makes the K2 EMF meter a great instrument for both Paranormal Research and for finding potentially harmful high EMF levels in your home or work environment. The K2 EMF meter is pocket sized so that you can always be ready to take a reading!

Voice Recorders (for EVP's)

Analog tape recorders:

Once a staple of all ghost hunter kits. Since spirits or ghost are believed to affect electromagnetic fields, it was thought that they could interact with the magnetic heads of an analog tape recorder by imprinting their voices on them. Even after the debut of digital voice recorders, some groups still use the analog recorders because using a tape provides a hard copy which could be put aside for later.

Digital Voice Recorders:

Provides superior sound, convenient file management, and longer recording time. Many models have the ability to quickly transfer audio files to a computer via USB, PC connection or removable media.

Table Top Tape Recorders

This is the same as an Analog. You should use an external Mic with this item for the best results. Also, only use fresh tapes every time.

Cameras / Video

Film                                                                                        The The higher the speed film, the better.

Digital Cameras:

Can do things film cameras cannot: displaying images on a screen immediately after they are recorded, storing thousands of images on a single small memory device, recording video with sound, and deleting images to free storage space.

Disposable

The higher the shutter speed, the better.

Video Camcorders/Handicams mini DV

Other Important Tools

Computer

Any brand will do. Audio, pictures, and video take up lots of space so make sure that you have room.

Pen Drives

Now here is the life saver of any computer. These lil’ gems will save your hard drive for all of those programs that you are going to be running. We use these to store all of our investigation information (Photos, EVP’s, Video’s, Reports).

Compass

Thermometer

We use this item because some in the field believe that a sudden change in temperature may indicate the existence of a spirit.

Flashlight

Better to see in dark spaces. Also can attempt communication to see if the spirit can manipulate the flashlight by turning it off and on.

Headphones

Cleansing Kit should consist of:

Divining Rods

Pen and Paper

The most important part are these 2 items. They are a necessary tool to both the client and the investigator. It is important for the client to write down their personal experiences, time, place and emotions at that moment. Pen and paper are important to the investigator so that notes can be taken during pre-interviews, interviews, investigations, research and findings.
